How Did We Get Here? Part 1

So what's our story? How did we end up in Florida?  Well it really started in 2007 when we decided to take a family trip to Walt Disney World.  You see we had always loved Disney, we just didn't really know how much.  George grew up on the east coast and got to experience Walt Disney World a couple times as a kid.  I grew up in California I had been to Disneyland a lot.  Before we moved from California to Kansas we would take our 2 youngest every so often.  We moved to Kansas in 1997 and would go back to visit family and of course make a trip to Disneyland, so all 6 of our kids have been to Disneyland.  But in 2007 we decided to do something different and head to Walt Disney World.  I researched online for months about what to do and what to see. Writing all the tips and secrets I learned in a notebook.  I spoke with many of the agents at Disney getting tips from them as well.  I wanted this vacation to be one to remember.
After months of planning, making matching shirts, creating Halloween costumes and getting everything ready it was time to pack the suburban and head out.  Yes we were going to drive! We left very early in the morning and about 5 hours into the drive I realized that I forgot my notebook (remember the one I had put all the tips and secrets in? The one that had our schedule? That is the one I forgot!).  I was devastated to say the least.  George ask if I wanted to have our neighbor Fedex it, I said no that it would be ok. After all I practically had the thing memorized.  Across the country we headed and after a brief visit with our friends who live in Jacksonville we finally arrive at Walt Disney World.

What an exciting site!

Disney's Boardwalk

Seems like we have been spending a lot of time at Disney's Boardwalk and surrounding resorts.  It started off by watching the Olympics at the Dolphin Resort, then back the next day to walk around, then back once more to celebrate our daughter's birthday.  If you haven't been there or it's been awhile you should check it out.  There are some really great things to do such as: Dining, dancing, entertainment, roasting marshmellows on the beach, watching a movie (Disney of course) under the stars, you can even see Illuminations from the Bridge by the Swan and Dolphin.  It is a relaxing and fun place to spend an evening.

So much to do!

The view from Disney's Beach Club

Catch a movie under the stars at the Beach Club beach

Sunset ~ Just beautiful and relaxing

Grab a quick bite to eat at the Boardwalk Bakery. Everything is so good!
You can even order a cake for a special event.

You just might run into Cool Hands Luke!
